The Shack by William P. Young is a fiction book that encompasses many themes such as God, religion, faith, pain and forgiveness.  The book’s central character is Mackenzie Allen Philips, known as, Mack.  The novel details the death of Mack’s youngest daughter Missy. Mack takes his three children on a camping trip. While camping in Oregon’s wilderness, Missy is abducted and murdered.  Mack is very depressed and sad over Missy death. The unfortunately, great sadness takes control of Mack’s life.  Mysteriously, the book also describes a letter that is left in Mack’s mailbox with no return address.  Mack states that the letter contains details about God inviting Mack to spending a weekend at The Shack with Papa (God).  This riveting book has been made into a major motion film.  The movie does a great job depicting the events from the book.   As an avid reader, I would suggest this reading to others who have questions about God, faith, religion, forgiveness and pain.
